In 1983, our family moved from a small town outside of Buffalo, NY to the oldest incorporated town in New York State. Gary Swedish latched on with V&O press. He was hired as General Manager of small company located on Parker Lane called Ewing Gear & Machine Works, a division of V&O Press. Ewing Gear was a replacement part and gear manufacturer, that also dealt with sharpening industrial knives . As the years went by, the company evolved. In 1997, Jokamsco Group, led by Colleen Swedish (founder and CEO) took flight and has been growing and evolving ever since.  Currently, Hudson River Grinding is committed to continuing the evolution process through state of the art techniques based on years of experience. As we progress into the future and the age of technology, the business aspects change-but the commitment to precision, quality, and excellence do not.

LONGEVITY

Family Owned and Operated, Hudson River Grinding has been a staple of Northeastern New York for nearly 15 years.  It is our belief that consistency is the foundation of excellence. Having serviced and sharpened everything from kitchen knives to industrial trimmer blades, our name is synonymous with precision, quality, and most of all-EXCELLENCE!  

January 19, 1996, Hudson River Grinding gained its roots. Considered one of the worst "January" thaws in history, both the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers melted, thus cresting at 26' (each). Our shop, located exactly where the two rivers converge sparked the idea to name the company HUDSON RIVER GRINDING. (Yes-we moved to a new location shortly thereafter)

FAMILY

Hudson River Grinding is a subsidiary of The Jokamsco Group, Ltd. Ironically, the name JoKamSco was derived from the owners three children-John, Kamlynn, Scott-who are still very much part of the business.
